Dark Souls III total conversion mod shares block of gameplay – Niche Gamer
Lately the Dark Souls III community has been taking matters into their own hands, turning the franchise’s games into their own projects.
Dark Souls 1 fans are eagerly awaiting the Nightfall mod, and now Dark Souls III fans have something coming their way too.
Archthrones is a total conversion mod for Dark Souls III, which sets out to completely change the game, making it almost unrecognizable with the number of changes and additions it makes.
The team behind the mod shared a gameplay showcase on YouTube, which you can watch below:
Anyone who ventured into Dark Souls III modding probably played some excellent mods like Cinder and The Convergence, but while these mods change so much about the game they don’t have a lot of original content outside of spells and armor.
Archthrones seems to take it a step further by being a homage to Demon’s Souls, the FromSoftware title that propelled the developer into the public’s eyes.
Players who spent way too much time with Dark Souls III may remember some of the assets, but it’s still extremely hard to recognize the game, it simply looks like a new title on the franchise.
The developers also confirmed something very important:
If this trend keeps going then it won’t be long until Elden Ring receives the same treatment, but it may take a special kind of crazy to modify a game that huge.
The mod currently has a Patreon page, so anyone can help out and maybe get some early news on the project.
Dark Souls III has been available for Windows PC (via Steam), Xbox One, and PlayStation 4. In case you missed it, you can find our review for Dark Souls III here (we highly recommend the game).
